been passed on to the companies in the network. IPC
is very satisfied with the outcome of its first participation
in a foreign trade faire. Let's hope that some of the
opportunities brought back from Hamburg will soon be
in evidence in Concarneau!
Now,
the next meeting is

in
Paris at the Parc des Expositions, Porte de Versailles.

Latest JFA shipyard contract:
construction of a giant catamaran |

After
the launch of Sun Tenareze in 2003, this will be the
second composite catamaran built by JFA. - Delivery
planned during 2010.
|
|
In the last newsletter,
we spoke about a new contract that had been won by JFA
to build a motor yacht 43 metres in length.
This
time, we are pleased to announce of latest project:
the construction of a giant catamaran.
Why giant? Because it is 110 feet long, (33.50 metres),
which makes it the 3rd biggest cruising catamaran in
construction in the world.
Van Peteghem Lauriot Prévost (VPLP), the world
leader in multihull architecture, designed this 110’
craft. Built in epoxy carbon, this yacht will offer
comfort and high performance under sail, thanks to its
spacious layout and a sail plan inspired by racing trimarans.
This luxurious cruise catamaran is designed to accommodate
8 guests and 6 crew members.
Thanks to this new project, the JFA shipyard has once
again shown its versatility in both sail and motor propelled
vessels.

Fishing : mandatory new equipment
(Marinelec Technologies informations)
|
|

The
ALTOR 8 combined with the DVES flood detector has successfully
passed all the mechanical environment and EMC tests
in laboratories approved by the classification companies
and has obtained approval from BUREAU VERITAS on behalf
of the French Merchant Navy.
More than 80 vessels already have this equipment.

Specialised
in watch control, MARINELEC has already fitted several
hundred ships with its LYNX V2 and is currently developing
a product that meets the new regulation. This product
will be shown at the Maritima trade faire in December. |
|
Section
361 "Flood detection devices and alarms" in
the French Department of Maritime Affairs regulations:
warning, only 8 months left to comply with the law
The Marinelec Technologies ALTOR 8 alarm unit and DVES
detectors meet this new flood detection regulation.
Since January 2007, a flood detection device and alarm
is mandatory on board new fishing vessels less than
24 metres in length in France. This regulation will
apply to all fishing vessels from 1st June 2009.
Design, construction and installation of this device
must satisfy IEC standards 90092-201, 90092-504 and
particularly IEC standards 60945 and 60529. The device
must also have MMF type approval.
Section 212 "Bridge and engine room watch"
in the French Department of Maritime Affairs regulations:
warning, only 11 months to go until you have to fit
a bridge watch system
The MARINELEC Technologies LYNX V2 watch control system
meets this new regulation which, from October 2009,
makes a bridge watch system mandatory on new fishing
vessels in France that will be at sea for a duration
greater than or equal to 24 hours. (more details…)
In the past few years, accidents due to fatigue and
watchkeeping problems have increased amongst our professional
fishermen. This new regulation will apply to fishing
vessels exceeding 24 metres in length. This watch control
system must comply with resolution MSC.128(75) concerning
the BNWAS (Bridge Navigation Watch Alarm System) and
must have obtained MMF approval (granted by BUREAU VERITAS)
